Supermoto racers waiting to get on the track for
practice.

Supermoto combines Road Racing, Supercorss and
Flat Track into one event.

All the factory teams were there including KTM
Racing.

This 180 degree turn into a jump came at the end
of a 100+ MPH straightaway.

The ageless Jeff Ward takes the platform during
pre-race introductions.

At 45 Ward is racing 19 and 20 year olds and as
of the Nashville round was leading in points! Pretty incredible for a guy
who is older than I am.

Racing on "slicks" makes the dirt portion of the
track pretty critical.

Speeds in excess of 100 MPH are common on the
straightaways.

This guy was laying into the corners so hard that
sparks would fly from his foot pegs.

Here's the same guy leading a couple others into
another corner.

Ward's helmet. He races for the Troy Lee Designs
Honda team.

This is Ward's bike. They put heated covers on
the tires in the pit to keep them warm.

This guy won the first Supermoto for the Graves
Yamaha Team.

Ward being interviewed after taking second place
in the first Supermoto.

Supermoto is exciting to watch. If you missed it,
plan now to go next year.

A couple of laps after this photo this guy landed
hard on the main jump and went over the handlebars onto the pavement. He
walked away but apparently suffered a fractured wrist. |
