BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY - JUNE 2007
(Lot's of pictures! This page may take a while to load but it's worth the wait.)

This is the highest elevation point on the Parkway.

The speed limit is 45mph on the entire Blue Ridge Parkway and there is curve after curve after curve... a touring paradise.

The weather was pretty consistent... sunshine all morning followed by rain every afternoon and then sun again in the evening.

We got pretty fast at getting in and out of our rain gear.

About every couple of miles there are scenic overlooks on the Parkway where you can pull off and enjoy the view.

Even during those times of  less than ideal weather conditions the scenery was magnificent. I know you guys in Texas will argue but this has got to be God's country.

Another observation area at Obadiah Gap. Many of the areas had biblical names. Mount Pisgah was another.

There are several tunnels on the Blue Ridge Parkway...

...that take you literally, right through the mountains.

Many times we were above cloud layers.

One of the little towns just off the Parkway.

We saw a lot of Sport-Touring bikes like the ones these folks were riding.

One of our "sunny-er" moments.
